SCPs Annual Fundraising Benefit

written and conceived by Ted Swindley

Dine with SCP and PATSY CLINE This August!

In the continuation of the Sherman Community Players’ celebration of their 70th anniversary, SCP’s summer benefit dinner theater August 2nd to 11th will be doing their most popular show ever, ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE written and conceived by Ted Swindley.

This will mark the third time SCP has produced this show with many encores, the first time in the fall of 1999 to open the 1999-2000 MainStage season, and secondly in 2009 to open the 2009-2010 MainStage season.  This sure-fire crowd pleaser is based on a true story about the lasting friendship between the late country music superstar and a devoted fan from Houston, Texas.  This nostalgic and entertaining show is full of laughter, tears and over 20 glorious Patsy Cline hits like: I Fall to Pieces, Walkin’ After Midnight, Your Cheatin’ Heart, Crazy, and many more.

Long-time SCP MainStage Artistic Director Ron Cassady (now retired) in conjunction with his wife Nancy Cassady will be directing this show now for the third time.  Nancy played the part of Louise Seger (a Texas housewife and fan of Patsy Cline) the first time in 1999 along with Rita Fulmer who played and sang the Patsy Cline part.  In 2009, Louise was played by noted SCP actress and costumer Karen Schuth with Austin College Alum, Julie Johnson as Patsy Cline.  Julie has performed around the country including on Broadway and in Off-Broadway shows.

This time around, Louise will be played by Katy (Cassady) Price, Ron and Nancy Cassady’s oldest daughter, and Patsy Cline will be portrayed by Jenna Monteith who recently played Audrey in SCP’s production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.  Both are excited to carry on this beloved show in a SCP tradition now of over 20 years.

SCP’s summer benefit dinner theater will be held the first two weekends of August 2,3,4 and 9,10,11 in the Honey McGee Playhouse complete with dinner catered by Feast On This during the show.  Evening events start at 6 p.m. and matinees (Sundays only) at 1 p.m.  For this benefit, single tickets are $45 each with special sponsor tables that seat eight of your invited guests at $600.  Reservations can be made now through Webster Crocker Theatricks Director by calling (903)893-8525 or e-mailing director@theatricks.org.

This is a very popular show, so make your reservations early!
